The remodelling and Project Elevate remodelling offer better returns than the newly opened stores.
Good progress on Back to Basics plans and might start to see that in income statement soon. If op margins can get back to 5% that could be 2b in op income, which isn't too bad at these prices.
Their consumers are struggling though based off the survey that they shared in Q2 results
What has your experience with $DG been? What area of the country do you live in and how often to you stop at a Dollar General? I have been wondering what other people's opinions on the chain are.
I stop in on some of them every now and again. I live in Lapeer, Michigan. Everywhere in the "thumb area" of Michigan just north of me is sparsely populated so those Dollar General stores have become those communities primary place to get regular groceries. I can only speak for the $DG places around me but, the insides of the stores are looking much better than they used to. The stores around me also now have fresh produce. I know Dollar General got a large amount of negative press about how terrible their stores are, how understaffed they are, and how unorganized everything is in them but around me, $DG seems to have attempted to make really efforts to turn this around.

Judging by the results and progress of the Back to Basics, seems like there's a chance we may see margin improvements starting next call
